The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) published its latest list of the nation’s top sand and gravel producers, ranking them based on their 2022 tonnages.

According to USGS, about 953 million metric tons of sand and gravel were put out by all sand and gravel producers nationwide in 2022. The value of that total was $10.7 billion, USGS says, with the tonnage up 1.4 percent from 2021.

While USGS does not publish sand and gravel tonnages by company, the agency does indicate where companies rank among its top 100. Many of the industry’s major producers – CRH Americas Materials, Vulcan Materials Co. and Martin Marietta included – appear on USGS’s top 100 list this year. See which producers topped the list, who made the top 100 for the first time and who the largest risers and fallers are.
