Though their fuel consumption and sustainability benefits are clear, newer, more efficient engines come with a unique set of challenges for off-highway OEMs. The smaller, power dense engines operating at reduced rpm create increased torsional vibrations, especially at idle, which must be dampened to ensure the reliability of powertrain components. Most couplings are too dynamically rigid for these applications, forcing the engine to run at higher idle speeds to prevent overload, protect equipment, and safeguard uptime.

The CENTAFLEX-TIR is designed to dampen high torsional vibrations, allowing Stage V (EU) and Tier 4 (US) engines to run at the lowest idling speeds – saving fuel and reducing emissions. Consequently, this unique solution offers reliable torque transmission for the next generation of off-highway equipment. Regal Rexnord launched the product in the United States at the World of Asphalt /AGG1 show.
