Surface transportation advocate Petri to step away from Congress

By |  April 16, 2014

Rep. Tom Petri (R-Wis.) announced April 14 that he would not seek re-election this year. According to NSSGA, Petri has a long history on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, where he currently chairs the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit. Petri also has served for years on the House Education and the Workforce Committee.

NSSGA says transportation stakeholders are hoping the retirement announcement will free Petri to concentrate on surface transportation reauthorization in the months ahead. Petri has been an outspoken advocate of transportation for many years, the association adds.
