Screen Machine Industries is now offering SMI Compact crushing and screening plants.

The compact machines are significantly smaller than the standard line crushers and screens Screen Machine has been manufacturing and selling for more than a half-century. In fact, the company says the SMI Compact units are about 20 percent the size of a standard Screen Machine plant.

“We see huge potential for SMI Compact equipment, especially in urban areas where full-size crushing and screening machines are simply too large,” says Timothy Miller, director of new business development at SMI Compact. “There’s really nothing else like the SMI Compact line in the marketplace, and we think it fills an existing void within the crushing and screening industry.”

Screen Machine expects the SMI Compact crushing and screening plants to be successful in the rental market. As such, the company is now accepting applications from U.S. dealers.

The current SMI Compact line consists of six models, including the 50TJ tracked 16-in. x 28-in. jaw crusher; the 20TJ tracked 10-in. x 20-in. jaw crusher; the 10TJ tracked 7-in. x 16-in. jaw crusher; the 90TS tracked 3-ft. x 8-ft. double-deck screening plant; the 20SJ stationary 10-in. x 20-in. jaw crusher; and the 10SJ stationary 7-in. x 16-in. jaw crusher.

The 50TJ is the largest machine in the SMI Compact line, weighing 26,000 pounds and requiring a semi-tractor trailer for transport. The rest of the line can be moved with a heavy-duty pickup truck and transport trailer, Screen Machine says.

SMI Compact model numbers are indicative of their maximum production capability. The 50TJ is capable of processing up to 50 tph, while the 20 and 10 models can process up to 20 and 10 tph, respectively. The 90TS screening plant can process up to 90 tph.

Additionally, the machines can be fed by hand or by a mini excavator or skid-steer loader.

According to Screen Machine, the SMI Compact machines are ideal for jobs like concrete recycling, allowing material to be repurposed on a site.

“SMI Compact equipment is perfect for small-job applications, like driveway replacements, concrete renovation and landscaping work,” Miller says. “They are easy to move, they have a small footprint and they are economical to run. But most important, they offer remarkable productivity.”
