Michael Wilson was elected to the board of directors at Vulcan Materials Co.

According to Vulcan, Wilson will serve on the Audit and Safety, Health, and Environmental Affairs Committees.

Wilson is the president and CEO of Ingevity Corp. and a member of Ingevity’s board of directors. Ingevity is a global supplier of specialty chemicals, carbon materials and engineered polymers.

“We are very pleased to welcome Michael Wilson to Vulcan’s board of directors,” says Tom Hill, Vulcan chairman and CEO. “As chief executive officer of Ingevity Corp., he is a proven leader who brings to our board deep strategic, operational and senior executive expertise from his long experience in the international chemicals industry.”

With the addition of Wilson, Vulcan’s 10-member board now consists of nine independent directors.

Separately, Vulcan Materials announced last month that it had joined an ongoing initiative to further the company’s efforts advancing diversity and inclusion. The organization Vulcan is part of is CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion, and Hill signed a pledge to support more inclusive workplaces.
