Within the last few years, Magruder Limestone made one of its most significant equipment investments to date when it purchased a pair of tracked portable crushing and screening fleets from IRock Crushers.

Each portable fleet consists of a horizontal shaft impactor, a cone crusher and two triple-deck screens. The plants are utilized in Magruder Limestone’s northern Missouri quarries and can be moved from site to site.

“What used to take us literally weeks to move a plant is now done in a day,” says Clark Bollinger, production manager at Magruder Limestone.

In an industry plagued with workforce challenges, the fleets allowed Magruder Limestone to reduce the staffs around each plant from seven or eight to only three. The company’s experience with the plants has been a positive one for other reasons, too.

“When we went into this venture with IRock, I demoed several other manufacturers,” Bollinger says. “IRock was the only one willing to make the changes necessary in order for us to agree to purchase their product. They went above and beyond. It was a good marriage.”

According to Bollinger, IRock invested significant capital of their own to research and design a custom plant for Magruder Limestone. For example, Bollinger requested a larger hood on the TC-20 impactor, and IRock made the accommodation.

Bollinger estimates the hood design change resulted in at least 8 to 10 percent more production for his company.

“The requests we made from IRock have increased our production rates immensely by measurable amounts in terms of a percentage that would not have been possible without those revisions,” Bollinger says.

Aftermarket support has also been exceptional, he adds.

“I call IRock and they listen on tech and parts,” Bollinger says. “We had some bugs, but they were here and if I call they are here.”
