Although ConExpo-Con/Agg is now North America’s largest construction trade show, the show didn’t always mirror the gargantuan size that it is today.

In fact, ConExpo and Con/Agg were originally independent events, with the first ConExpo taking place in 1909 and the original Con/Agg taking place in 1928.

“1996 is when the two shows came together and became the ConExpo-Con/Agg that we know today,” says Dana Wuesthoff, vice president of exhibitions at the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).

According to Wuesthoff, ConExpo-Con/Agg has three principal industry association sponsors: AEM, the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) and the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA).

“ConExpo was owned by AEM and Con/Agg was owned by NRMCA and NSSGA,” Wuesthoff says.
