Sustainability became a more front-and-center topic across the aggregate industry in 2022.

The sustainability theme will carry into the new year, with a variety of technologies fitting the bill expected to be showcased at ConExpo-Con/Agg 2023.

According to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, which hosts ConExpo-Con/Agg every three years, Caterpillar, Volvo Construction Equipment and Wacker Neuson will be among the exhibiting companies to display sustainable tech at the March 14-18 trade show in Las Vegas.

“The construction industry and ConExpo-Con/Agg are evolving in many ways to adapt and showcase sustainable technologies, products and practices supporting a more sustainable world,” says Dana Wuesthoff, ConExpo-Con/Agg show director. “More than ever, show attendees will see sustainability in action, from electric- and hydrogen-powered construction equipment, to more recyclable materials and waste-reduction opportunities, to changes we’re making to the show to better support sustainability.”

Caterpillar, for instance, plans to bring four battery-electric machines and a series of prototype batteries for off-road equipment to the show. Cat will showcase the equipment in the Festival Lot.

Similarly, Volvo will showcase several electric and autonomous pieces of equipment – including its EC230 electric excavator pilot, the Zeux autonomous wheel loader concept and the HX04 hydrogen articulated hauler prototype.

Wacker Neuson, meanwhile, will display a number of electric tools. Briggs & Stratton plans to showcase its Vanguard brand’s swappable lithium-ion batteries. And Kubota will present its Micro-Hybrid engine for installation in its existing equipment – saving fuel with the attachments they use.
