The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) named the annual recipients of its Excellence in Community Relations awards.

Eight sites from four different companies received Gold awards.

Recipients include three Oldcastle sites: Silver Spring Quarry in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; Stoneco Maybee in Maybee, Michigan; and Mt. Holly Quarry in Mt. Holly Springs, Pennsylvania.

Three Martin Marietta sites are also recognized, including the company’s Ames Mine in Ames, Iowa; the Chico Quarry in Bridgeport, Texas; and Forsyth Quarry in Suwanee, Georgia.

Other sites to be honored are Cemex’s FEC Quarry in Miami and the LafargeHolcim Stringtown Quarry in Stringtown, Oklahoma.

“We congratulate all of the Excellence in Community Relations award winners for involving their communities in their operations and helping their neighbors understand the impact of local operations and the value of the aggregates industry,” says Mike Johnson, NSSGA president and CEO.

The community relations awards program began in 1989 to recognize aggregate producers who have improved the public perception of their local operations and the industry as a whole through community outreach, partnerships and media coverage.
