The portable Sentry horizontal shaft impact (HSI) closed-circuit plant was also unveiled at ConExpo-Con/Agg.

The Sentry HSI was one of several pieces of equipment to debut from Superior Industries.

“We’ve played around with portable plants since our founding,” says Corey Poppe marketing communications manager at Superior. “We are now building more portable plants than at any time in our history.”

Keestrack, meanwhile, showcased its own impact crushing plant in the redesigned R5e.

The R5e, which has a capacity of 400 tph, is a fully electric plug-in model featuring a plug-out connection to power additional equipment. The impactor can be utilized in several applications, including aggregates. Power to the R5e is possible through either a mains connections or with any gen set unit, Keestrack says.

Terex MPS, meanwhile, showcased the new Cedarapids CRC 1350S portable cone crushing plant, which is scheduled to launch in the third quarter.

Designed for high production at a lower cost per ton while remaining highly portable, Terex MPS says the plant features an enhanced TC1300X cone crusher with 400 hp and high-efficiency roller bearings. The company says the plant not only increases overall power, but it increases stroke from 45 mm to 70 mm.

“The CRC1350S is a high-production, high-mobility, closed-circuit cone plant,” says Russ Burns, sales director at Terex MPS. “It’s the first 400-hp, closed-circuit cone plant on the market. Because of our customization capabilities on the screen side, we were able to design a screen that allows us to keep within strict travel restrictions while remaining highly mobile along with the high-production capacity of the 400-hp cone.”

As Burns describes, Terex MPS has an advantage in that it has the ability and experience to engineer and design custom-built screens and feeders.

“This can be a challenge – especially in the triple-shafts arena,” he says. “That enabled us to put a high-horsepower cone onto a chassis and still maintain the weight and height restrictions that allow us to be portable. Now, we’re the only ones on the market with this style plant. Actual output percentages will vary based on the application, but we’re probably 20 to 25 percent higher production than the 300-hp cones. So, we’re offering more horsepower and more screen capability on a portable chassis.”

More compact than ever

ConExpo-Con/Agg also served as a reminder that compact crushing equipment is trendier than ever in the U.S.

RubbleCrusher, for example, made its North American debut as part of the McLanahan family of companies. RubbleCrusher launched its compact, mobile crushing units for North America, and it is focused on expanding its global dealer network into the U.S.

RubbleCrusher specifically showcased portable and track-mounted jaw crushers, which the company describes as fast to deploy on jobsites and meeting all Department of Transportation regulations.

RubbleCrusher’s RC150V, a pull-behind portable crusher, can be hauled by any full-size pickup truck. The unit weighs just under 7,800 pounds and enables operators to recycle C&D waste materials for use on site – without having to pay to remove materials or bring in new aggregates for jobs.

The RC150T, meanwhile, offers the same features as the RC150V, but it is mounted on tracks, allowing for remote-control movement. The company says the tracks allow the RC150T to be moved across roads, pavement and driveways without causing damage to surfaces.

SMI Compact, a division of Screen Machines Industries, also showcased a compact crusher: the 50TJ tracked jaw model.

According to SMI Compact, the 50TJ is the largest of five compact jaw crusher offerings it has. The 50TJ is capable of crushing up to 50 tph, and it can be connected to SMI Compact’s 90TS tracked screening plant to produce up to three sized products – depending on what’s being processed.

Throughout ConExpo-Con/Agg, Screen Machine’s message was “three brands, one mission.” Screen Machine and SMI Compact equipment and technology was on display alongside Diamond Z offerings.

Screen Machine showcased the 4043TR recirculating impact crushing plant, which is the company’s best-selling model. The 4043TR delivers decreased downtime and increased productivity, according to marketing director David Stewart.

The 4043TR features a large double-deck screen with a front fines conveyor for sized materials. Operators can use the radial side overs conveyor that feeds back into the hopper as a second stacker. Also, Screen Machine says the crusher relief system clears blockages and minimizes downtime.
