Caterpillar shared its plans for the upcoming MINExpo International, noting that the company’s exhibit will be grouped by three core areas: ESG (environmental, social and governance) and sustainability, technology and automation, and equipment life cycle management solutions.

D11 XE dozer

As part of the trade show plan, Cat says it will unveil the world’s largest, most powerful and efficient electric-drive dozer with high drive. The model is the D11 XE.

Cat says the D11 XE will be the most advanced, lowest emission-per-ton dozer in the industry. It is built to deliver the lowest cost of bank cubic meters ever, according to the company.

The new D10 dozer, which Cat will exhibit alongside the D11 XE, offers up to 4 percent less fuel consumption than a previous model, Cat adds, as well as up to 3 percent more productivity with high-horsepower reverse and up to 6 percent more efficiency with combined load-sensing hydraulics and stator clutch torque divider.

R1700 XE LHD

Additionally, Cat will feature the new R1700 XE LHD (load, haul, dump) for underground mining. This features 100 percent battery electric propulsion, Cat says, generating significantly less heat and noise.

The R1700 XE offers a 16.5-ton payload, 53,330-pound lift and tilt breakout force, as well as an 11.2-mph top speed. Batteries stay on the machine for charging to optimize runtime and improve safety, Cat says.

The R1700 XE can be fully charged in as few as 20 minutes, the company adds. The new portable MEC500 mobile equipment charger is a first of its kind in the industry, Cat says. It can be moved via towing, fork truck or the R1700 XE, and it eliminates the need for regular battery handling and swapping.

777G water truck

The new 777G water truck, equipped with MineStar Command for hauling, will also be highlighted at MINExpo. Cat says the 777G features the market’s first autonomous water delivery system, integrating truck, tank and sprayer. It knows where and when to water haul roads.

“After waiting an extra year, the mining industry is ready to reconnect at MINExpo,” says Denise Johnson, Cat’s resource industries group president. “We are excited to show our customers and the industry the advancements Caterpillar has made not only in equipment, technology and services, but also in how we are helping customers mine more sustainably. While we are eager to exhibit in Las Vegas, we recognize that many of our dealers and customers will not be able to travel to the show. Therefore, we are also creating a digital Caterpillar experience at cat.com/mining, where we will place MINExpo specific content.”

MINExpo International 2021 will take place Sept. 13-15 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas.
