Western Star Trucks: 6900XD

Western Star’s 6900XD 40-ton dump truck is equipped with planetary gear drive axles to improve power shifting and create optimal axle ratios that are designed to lead to less gearing, power loss and heat increase in the transmission. Features of the 6900XD are smaller diameter, high-pressure tires, a Hardox 400 steel dump box and a galvanized steel cab with full cab guard to protect operators from falling debris. Western Star’s 4900XD, meanwhile, is equipped with a Klein 6,600-gallon steel water tank. The 4900XD sports a DDC 60 Tier 3 EPA engine that features a single-stage turbo and no exhaust gas recirculation. Standard safety features are outboard cab mounts to maximize stability and high-visibility halogen headlights for greater visibility.
