Vulcan names presidents for Southern & Gulf Coast, Central divisions

Vulcan Materials Co. named Jerry Perkins Jr. as president of its Southern & Gulf Coast Division and Christy Alvord as the president of its Central Division.

The Southern & Gulf Coast Division, headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, covers the company’s construction materials businesses in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and the Panhandle of Florida. The Central Division, headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, encompasses Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois and Arkansas.

The company says Perkins will have senior management responsibilities for the division. Prior to this role, Perkins served as general counsel and corporate secretary. Before that, he was the assistant general counsel and corporate secretary. Before joining Vulcan in 2002, he worked as a certified public accountant at a global accounting firm and was an attorney with Burr & Forman LLP in Birmingham, Alabama. Perkins holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Alabama and received a law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law.

The company also appointed Alvord as the president of its Central Division.

Prior to this position, Alvord served as president of the Southern & Gulf Coast Division. Before that, she worked as vice president of corporate planning and performance improvement at Vulcan. Before joining Vulcan in 2016, she held various executive management positions across the United States at GE Aviation, including serving as president of GE Aviation-Unison Industries and GE Aviation-Middle River Aircraft Systems. She earned an MBA from Harvard University and holds a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, as well as a bachelor’s degree degree in political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
