Former Vulcan Materials CEO to retire

By |  January 2, 2015

Vulcan Materials Co. announced that Don James, executive chairman of its board of directors, plans to retire on Jan. 15. The company says that James will serve as a non-executive chairman now that he is no longer a Vulcan employee.

James led Vulcan Materials as its CEO from 1997 to 2014. James also served on the company’s board of directors since 1996.

Tom Hill succeeded James as the company’s CEO midway through 2014.

“Our new management team is now in place and functioning at a high level,” James says. “The company’s financial and operational performance has continued to improve as demand for our construction materials recovers across all of our markets.”
