John Deere debuted a new round of midsize P-Tier and G-Tier excavator models. The 135, 210, 245, 250, 300 and 345 models joined John Deere’s P-Tier lineup, and the 200 model is now in the company’s G-Tier. Offering improved front-joint durability, John Deere says the P-Tier midsize models promote better performance and operator stability. With grease points at the arm tip for easy greasing, extended uptime and better torque retention at the clamp, the company says the new P-Tier models were designed to provide optimal performance and easier serviceability. Also, John Deere says the redesigned boom-foot bushings offer enhanced durability for an extended machine lifespan. The 200 G-Tier, meanwhile, features a PowerTech 4.5-liter engine that delivers optimal performance for operators of all skill levels, according to John Deere. The company says the machine’s exhaust filters help decrease downtime for service, while an in-monitor adjustable flow and pressure auxiliary hydraulics can easily be controlled using an auxiliary function lever.

Certified tech a replacement for traditional scales

Walz Scale achieved government legal-for-trade certification for its Walz Scanner volumetric measurement technology. The NTEP (National Type Evaluation Program) certification is the first of its kind in the U.S., Walz Scale says, and verifies the technology as an accurate volumetric bulk measurement system. According to the company, the Walz Scanner utilizes laser technology to scan and measure bulk material loads in trucks and railcars. The system operates like truck and rail scales yet allows operations to achieve legal-for-trade volumetric load measurements while a vehicle is in motion. The certification means operations can utilize the Walz Scanner as a replacement to scales to improve business processes.

Caterpillar unveiled a new hydraulic excavator that it sees as a fit for aggregate applications. According to Cat, the new 352 combines more power and a heavier counterweight to work with larger tools. The result is greater production for more profit potential, Caterpillar says. The 352 offers a choice of fixed- or variable-gauge undercarriage. The variable-gauge undercarriage retracts to a 7-ft., 10-in. width, making it easier to transport. When expanded, it is 6 in. wider than the fixed-gauge undercarriage for greater stability. Different cab trim level options are also available. Cat says the deluxe cab option comes with a heated air-suspension seat. The premium cab option comes with a heated and ventilated air-suspension seat. Both have a tilt-up left-hand console for easier access in and out of the machine.

Metso Outotec expanded its cloud-based monitoring system to stationary screening equipment. The company says its Metrics monitoring system offers improved safety, increased uptime and throughput, and reduced unplanned maintenance. It also enables operators, controllers and service professionals to see real-time analysis of vibrating screen performance and bearing condition. Metrics is designed for intuitive operation, Metso Outotec says, as an easy-to-read screen dashboard with OEM insights makes it possible to quickly detect potential issues and take corrective action in time.

Superior Industries unveiled a modular skirting system that’s designed to control dust and prevent spillage within conveyor load and transfer zones. The new skirting system retrofits to any brand of existing structure with little or no field fabrication, Superior says. Two sets of adjustable legs aid in the universal installation. Additionally, the company says easy-to-adjust clamping mechanisms are used in place of nuts and bolts to hold skirtboard rubber tight against the belt. An optional stilling zone is available to accelerate the settling of dust while material is moving inside the system, Superior adds. The skirting system is sold in 5-ft. sections for conveyor belt widths up to 72 in.

The new J4 jaw crusher builds on the features of McCloskey International’s original design while adding new productivity with a variety of features and options aimed at boosting key areas. McCloskey says the J4 delivers high production rates because of an innovative jaw chamber design and enhanced material flow. The 42-in. x 28-in. jaw opening accommodates large feed sizes, the company says, contributing to higher production in material processing. The material path, meanwhile, is enhanced with the 41.9-in. x 167.2-in. grizzly pan feeder under the hopper that allows for better material sizing with a variety of mesh options. Options include a short pan feeder to suit the pre-screen or a double-deck grizzly pre-screen, ensuring suitability and better sizing of material based on the required end product.
