The articulated hauler market will register volume sales of more than 16,400 units in 2018, according to a study by Fact.MR. The study also says the market is likely to grow at over 5 percent compound annual growth rate through 2028.

Perennial demand for articulated haulers in the construction industry underpins the steady growth of the market. In a bid to efficiently address demand from the end-user industries and increase the stabilizing sales through the dealer network, manufacturers consistently introduce new business-to-consumer business approaches that deliver better service offerings to customers, the study says.

More specifically, the study shows articulated haulers with engine power up to 400 hp are likely to register volume sales of almost 8,400 units in 2018, which will account for 50 percent of global sales. Demand for articulated haulers with 400 to 500 hp is the second highest and is estimated to report nearly 6,000 units of volume sales in 2018.

Also, articulated haulers with 30 to 40 Mn tons of payload capacity reported almost 8,000 units of sales in 2017 and will continue to hold more than 50 percent of sales in 2018, the study says. The compact size and greater versatility are two factors driving the demand for articulated haulers with 30 to 40 Mn tons of payload capacity.

In addition, the Fact.MR study says the APEJ (Asia-Pacific, excluding Japan) region will cross 6,400 units of volume sales in 2018, an excess of 400 units reported in 2016. According to the study, an increasing number of construction projects and growing government support in the region can be attributed to high demand in the APEJ region.

North America is expected to account for almost 20 percent of the global volume sales in 2018, as increased projects in the residential sector have contributed to more than 80 percent of North America’s demand for articulated haulers in the United States.

According to the study, buoyant demand in the construction industry will remain crucial for the overall growth of the articulated haulers market. The report expects demand for articulated haulers from the construction industry will continue to be the largest and account for almost 60 percent of global volume sales in 2018.

Finally, the mining industry is expected to register the second largest demand and account for volume sales of more than 4,600 units in 2018. The study shows mines with large surface area and quarries prefer rigid haulers over articulated haulers.
