Triax Technologies introduced its Proximity Trace solution to help companies and employees maintain safe distances in the workplace during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the company, the main device of Proximity Trace, TraceTag, can be affixed to any hard hat or lanyard for proximity detection and contact tracing. The TraceTags emit a real-time alarm when workers are in close proximity, and the alarm increases in intensity if distance is not corrected.

In conjunction, gateways for collecting close worker interactions are placed at exits and high-traffic areas to log attendance of who was on site. Employee interactions are transmitted to the cloud. This, in turn, automates and digitizes contact tracing efforts and supports Centers for Disease Control & Prevention guidelines to limit the spread of infection, Triax says.

The TraceTag has no GPS or off-site tracking and no dependency on workplace WiFi or internet because gateways are cellular, according to the company. The TraceTag alarm can also be silenced or temporarily disabled with a button push for accepted close contact work, Triax says.

Headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut, Triax Technologies provides solutions for the construction, oil and gas, and energy industries.
