The board of directors at U.S. Concrete plans to name William J. Sandbrook, president and CEO of the company, chairman of the board following the company’s 2018 annual meeting of stockholders.

Eugene I. Davis, U.S. Concrete’s chairman of the board, decided to not stand for re-election at the company’s 2018 annual meeting of stockholders. U.S. Concrete named Sandbrook vice chairman of the board in the interim period.

“I want to thank Gene for his tireless service,” Sandbrook says. “He has been a terrific chairman as well as a great friend and partner and, on behalf of the entire U.S. Concrete family, I want to wish him the best in all of his future endeavors.

“On a personal note, I am extremely honored to assume the role of vice chairman and, in time, chairman. I look forward to leading the company in its continued relentless pursuit of our strategic growth objectives.”

In addition, Michael D. Lundin was named to the newly created position of lead independent director of the board.

U.S. Concrete serves the construction industry in several major markets in the United States through two business segments: ready-mixed concrete and aggregate products. The company has 158 standard ready-mixed concrete plants, 17 volumetric ready-mixed concrete facilities and 17 producing aggregate facilities.

In 2016, U.S. Concrete sold about 8.1 million cu. yd. of ready-mixed concrete and about 5.6 million tons of aggregate.
