With Knife River Corp. expected to become an independent, publicly traded company this quarter, MDU Resources Group revealed the group of six individuals it expects to make up the board of directors for its construction materials subsidary.

Among those MDU anticipates to serve on the Knife River board is Bill Sandbrook, the former chairman, president and CEO of U.S. Concrete. Sandbrook is currently a director of Comfort Systems USA and chairman and co-CEO of Andretti Acquisition Corp. He was enshrined in the Pit & Quarry Hall of Fame in 2018.

Brian Gray, president and CEO of Knife River, is also expected to serve on the new board alongside Karen Fagg, German Carmona Alvarez, Thomas Everist and Patricia Moss.

Fagg, former vice president of DOWL HKM and former chair, CEO and majority owner of HKM Engineering, is expected to chair Knife River’s board.

Carmona is global president of applied intelligence at Wood PLC and formerly a senior vice president and global digital practice leader at Neoris. He also previously served Cemex as executive vice president of finance, IT and shared services.

Everist is president and chair of The Everist Co., an investment and land development business that, until 2017, was a construction materials company. Everist is a former director of Raven Industries.

Moss is a former vice chair, president and CEO of Cascade Bancorp and Bank of the Cascades, as well as a director of First Interstate BancSystem.

“We are pleased to have the future board of directors identified for Knife River as we continue making progress toward the anticipated separation, which is expected to optimize value for shareholders,” says Dennis Johnson, chair of the board at MDU Resources.
