Rulmeca acquired Douglas Manufacturing Co. in a deal bringing two conveyor component manufacturers together.

Rulmeca says the acquisition represents a step forward for it in growing business in the U.S. The companies say Douglas benefits by being integrated into a “financially sound international group,” gaining access to a global supply chain and having a more extensive product portfolio.

According to the companies, Paul Ross will remain as Douglas president and the current Douglas management team will stay in place to ensure the growth and stability of the company.

The companies say Douglas intends to grow its talent pool to support future expansion plans. Additionally, Rulmeca plans to make investments in the coming months that will allow Douglas to increase production capacity.

Both Rulmeca and Douglas are family-owned and -operated. Rulmeca was founded in 1962, employing more than 1,200 people in 17 locations around the world. Rulmeca serves customers in more than 100 countries, supplying idlers, pulleys and motorized pulleys for belt conveyor systems.

Douglas Manufacturing was established in 1978, manufacturing conveyor components and engineering conveying solutions. Douglas’s roots are in Pell City, Alabama.
