Martin Marietta acquired Southern Crushed Concrete (SCC) from Spain’s Ferrovial for roughly $140 million, Reuters reports.

SCC, a Texas-based company, produces recycled concrete for construction projects throughout southeast Texas. The company was founded in 1991.

SCC says its recycling replaces the need for rock that must be trucked into the Houston area from distant quarries.

The SCC acquisition is hardly Martin Marietta’s first sizable deal of 2021. Martin Marietta came to an agreement this year to acquire Lehigh Hanson’s West Region business in a multibillion-dollar deal that included 17 active quarries. Shortly before that deal, Martin Marietta acquired Minnesota-based Tiller Corp.

Separately, Martin Marietta provided details about its second-quarter 2021 performance within recent weeks.
