George Reddin, managing director of FMI Capital Advisors, delivered his annual construction materials market outlook during the event’s second day. Says Reddin: “Demand remains strong [and] the IIJA (Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act) is going to be a big game changer for the industry. Residential [construction] short term looks not so good, but we think it’s going to return in 2024. Headwinds include inflation and interest rates, the Russia-Ukraine [war] remains an unknown, labor shortages [and] the supply chain. All those things are still out there, but I think we feel pretty strongly now about the future.”

Wm. D. Scepaniak’s John Scepaniak (left) and his wife Beka were also spotted at the cocktail reception. On the second day of the event, Scepaniak sat on a panel of producers and shared, among other things, the advantages his company experiences by bringing the fabrication of key equipment in-house. Says Scepaniak: “It’s grown to the scale where it’s kind of its own standalone contracting and manufacturing company floating inside of us.”
