Editor’s note: This month’s Quarry Faces features highlights from the 2020 Georgia Construction Aggregate Association (GCAA) Management Workshop & Expo, which took place at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta. For more details on the GCAA event, click here.

1.) The 2020 GCAA Management Workshop & Expo brought a number of speakers to Atlanta, including Vulcan Materials’ Baron Worthington. Worthington, who serves Vulcan as an economist, delivered a construction outlook for the state of Georgia. He expects aggregate demand to continue to grow within the state in 2020.

2.) This year’s expo featured a record 88 exhibitors, including companies like Yancey Bros. Co. Pictured in the foreground, from left, are Yancey Bros.’s Cleve Gambrell, Daniel Hitchcock and Bryan Ray. According to Yancey Bros., it operates 37 facilities across 21 Georgia cities.

3.) Hanson Aggregates’ Jamey Payne, left, connects with Minet Lacing Technology’s Gordon Godfrey at the expo.

4.) Brittany Young of the Georgia Department of Economic Development delivered a presentation during a general session, providing a business outlook and overview for attendees. Young cited information from Site Selection and Area Development magazines, detailing how Georgia was named the No. 1 state in the nation to do business in at least six years in a row.

5.) From left: Polydeck’s Trey Rollins and Tommy Daniel visit with Martin Marietta’s Mark Brown. In addition to Martin Marietta, producers such as Hanson Aggregates, Midsouth Aggregates and Vulcan Materials had large contingents at the show.
