Pure Safety Group, a manufacturer of fall protection equipment, introduced the Guardian Retractable Horizontal Lifeline.

Available July 8 in North America, the Guardian Retractable Horizontal Lifeline is for use in either fall arrest or fall restraint applications.

During a fall, the horizontal lifeline will deploy an extending metal energy absorber designed to reduce peak loads to anchorage structures. It can also be used as part of a fall restraint system, which prevents the worker from reaching the leading edge of a fall hazard.

The main component of the horizontal lifeline is a 60-ft. galvanized cable horizontal lifeline that is durable yet portable, and designed for temporary use, says Pure Safety Group. When it has been involved in a fall, its energy absorber clearly indicates that to the user, the company says.

Other product features include a single direction, tensioner handle designed to prevent accidental releases and folds down to lay flat along the unit, secured by a magnet to prevent work interference, and a carry handle.

According to the company, the horizontal lifeline’s hex shaft can connect to a drill to speed retrieval of the lifeline, and its low deflections create low fall clearance for users. The stainless steel housing and handles are corrosion resistant, which extends the life of the product, the company says. The horizontal lifeline can accommodate two workers at the same time at a weight of 130 to 310 pounds per worker.

The lifeline meets the Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards 1910 and 1926 Subpart M, and is made for use in any industry where workers are at height, the company says.

Pure Safety Group also named Randy Fernandez as head of sales for the western region of the United States, which encompasses Louisiana and Texas.

In his new leadership role, Fernandez will be a primary resource for companies using fall protection equipment in the region. He will manage a team of eight fall protection experts, working with businesses to understand their fall protection, dropped objects prevention, and confined space and rescue needs as well as advising on proper equipment and training for a thorough and effective safety program, the company says.

Fernandez is based in Denver and brings more than 20 years of experience to Pure Safety Group. According to the company, he has an extensive career in safety equipment manufacturing and sales, and has been a key contact for large companies seeking safety solutions in a variety of general industry, construction and other sectors in both North America and Latin America.
