Prairie Material site opens after three-year hiatus

By |  September 11, 2018

Prairie Material reopened a sand and gravel site in Illinois that was closed since 2014 due to slowed activity and competition from imports.

According to the Ford County Record, Prairie Material’s management sought to reopen the mine near Paxton, Illinois, for a while. Management established a logistics network to export sand and backhaul agricultural lime from a quarry in Ashkum, Illinois.

The Paxton site now offers a local source for construction sand, gravel and aglime, reducing transportation costs while supporting the local economy, the company adds.
