Precision Pulley & Idler (PPI) unveiled its plans for the upcoming ConExpo-Con/Agg, where the company will exhibit in Central Hall (Booth C31446) of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The Pro Idler

One product PPI will launch at the trade show is the new Pro Idler.

According to PPI, idler specifications in the conveying industry have often dictated how manufacturers build an idler roll based on a load rating that decreases as belt widths increase. As the industry has evolved, these specifications have left room for more efficient designs to be developed, PPI says.

To that end, the company is introducing an engineered and economical solution with the Pro Idler series. Taking the lead from the Pro Duty drum pulley, PPI says it is making idler selection easier and more cost effective.

“Traditional idler specifications leave some large gaps in product designs, sometimes causing customers to use idlers that may be overdesigned for their specific application,” says Mike Roozeboom. PPI industry product manager. “The PPI Pro Idler offers an engineered solution to our customers’ needs, always making sure they have the exact size idler where they need it.”

The product offers a new way to classify idlers, PPI adds.

“Our new products are going to change the way people look at the idlers they select,” Roozeboom says.

The Pro Tracker

In addition, PPI will launch its new Pro Tracker at ConExpo-Con/Agg.

The PPI Pro Tracker is a solution for belt-tracking issues. The lagged, return trainer pivots to guide the belt to its central position, resulting in reduced belt damage, decreased material loss and better tracking.

According to PPI, the Pro Tracker mounts with two adjustable brackets for easy installation and is designed with no exposed frame, eliminating material buildup.

“Belt tracking is critical to maintain both your belt and your structure,” Roozeboom says. “Not all belt-tracking issues respond to the same component, which is why PPI is expanding its offering so customers have multiple options and alternate solutions to meet specific needs.”

The product is offered in SBR diamond groove lagging or urethane lagging for shedding material and extended roll life, belt widths of 18 to 72 in., and adjustable mounting in 1-in. increments.

Conveyor covers introduction

PPI is also launching a new conveyor cover product line.

Conveyor covers help to protect conveyed material and the environment against dust and noise. Covering the product helps producers avoid losing material due to wind and also reduces the amount of wear on the belt due to weather conditions.

Safety and cost effectiveness are obviously two important demands in the industry. PPI conveyor covers are one product line that increases both, the company says.

“Conveyor covers are a completely new product line to PPI, something we have long considered an important component, as well as something on which we can provide expertise,” Roozeboom says. “With the demand of our customer base and the manufacturing capabilities we have today, now is the right time for PPI to expand our offering with this product.”

The product will be available in full (100 percent) 180-degree and three-quarter (75 percent) 135-degree styles, in standard 4-ft.-long sections. Covers will be made from galvanized steel to protect against corrosion and the elements. Conveyor covers are a complementary product to the quality conveyor components already offered by PPI.
