Precision Pulley & Idler (PPI) is launching a new impact zone product.

PPI’s spring impact roll is made of high-strength tempered steel, providing impact absorption and durability. Where unsupported belting is vulnerable to impact damage, PPI says the spring impact roll has a natural trough shape of the spring that allows for continuous belt support with no roll gaps. The spring design responds to increasing loads by flexing more, increasing the troughing angle to accommodate the load.

Additionally, PPI says the spring impact roll’s heavy-duty steel mounting brackets are designed to be a bolt-in replacement for existing impact or conventional idlers, providing extra strength in demanding conditions. The off-center reversible design allows users to adjust how tightly the spring impact roll is held, the company says. It can be pulled tighter to accommodate heavier materials, or allowed to hang looser for light materials that may need a greater troughing angle.

“We’re excited to expand our product offering with the launch of another problem-solver product: the spring impact roll,” says Mike Roozeboom, PPI industry product manager. “This addition to our impact product line will give our customers an effective and easy-to-install solution for those challenging load zones of a conveyor.”

The spring impact roll will be available in 24- to 60-in. belt widths, PPI says.
