The Pennsylvania Aggregates & Concrete Association (PACA) held its inaugural underground stone conference in Pittsburgh.

According to PACA, the one-day conference featured presentations on underground topics such as geotechnical grout selection, pillar design and roof support. Among the organizations that presented content at the meeting were NIOSH Mining, Penn State University, Pennsy Supply and Respec.

“Mining has long been a key component of Pennsylvania’s economy, and our members are on the front lines of it,” says Peter Vlahos, president and CEO of PACA. “As an industry, we are constantly evolving and responding to a variety of changes. Today’s conference gave our membership a chance to learn from experts in their field on best practices, safety and technology advancements.”
