York Building Products, a manufacturer of concrete masonry products, retaining walls, lintels and colored masonry cements, acquired Pennsylvania-based Union Quarries.

Union Quarries, which is based in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, produces crushed stone, asphalt and ready-mixed concrete products.

“This exciting acquisition will allow both operations to provide a greater level of product offering for our respective customers, increase our level of customer service and help us jointly reach a broader market area,” says Dave Semple, president of York Building Products, which is a subsidiary of the Stewart Companies based in York, Pennsylvania. “We are enthusiastic about the family-run nature and common core values of both companies, and with the integration of products between the two companies, the acquisition will help ensure future growth.

Chris Wright, president of Union Quarries, also weighed in on the development.

“We believe our customers and employees will be very pleased with the future course of the company, and [we] look forward to this new chapter in our history,” Wright says.

According to York Building Products, Union Quarries was founded in 1961 as a family-run business. Union Quarries manufactures crushed limestone products and operates hot-mix asphalt and ready-mix plants, providing products to the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, market.
