SSAB, the global steel company that produces the Hardox wear plate, introduced overlay products from Hardox Wearparts at MINExpo International 2016.

According to the company, Duroxite overlay products are designed for different types of wear, including abrasion, impact, heat, metal-to-metal and erosion. Duroxite is suited to fight sliding wear from exceptionally hard particles such as minerals containing quartz, the company adds. It is manufactured by depositing chromium-rich, abrasion-resistant materials on a mild steel base plate using a traditional arc-welding process.

Duroxite is delivered as plate ready for installation on equipment or for further fabrication in a workshop. Duroxite products are available from more than 200 Hardox Wearparts centers across more than 65 countries.

SSAB launched four Duroxite products: Duroxite 100, 101, 210 and 211. According to Ross Wylie, head of wear services North America for SSAB Americas, Duroxite 100 and 101 are ideal for aggregate applications.

Duroxite 100 is a multi-purpose overlay product with quality and premium performance, SSAB says. It’s ideal for moderate- to low-impact applications. In addition, its multiple-layer overlay is capable of maintaining full wear resistance up to 660 degrees, the company adds.

Duroxite 101, meanwhile, provides improved resistance against impact and plastic deformation. It employs a stronger Hardox base plate and chromium-rich overlay materials.
