The Safety Week series replaces OAIMA’s annual Spring Thaw Safety Training Conference. Due to coronavirus-related restrictions surrounding large gatherings, the Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) indicated that attendance of Safety Week can be used toward fulfillment of an eight-hour refreshment training.

According to OAIMA, in order to count the week-long virtual event as a refreshment training, the miner must be in attendance for the full online sessions and must initial the sessions they attended. In addition, the person responsible for health and safety training must sign and date the training record, which needs to be included in the company’s training documentation.

The association also says it will incorporate a question button to fulfill the interactive requirement, as stipulated by MSHA.

Topics covered will include dredge and conveyor safety, confined spaces and crisis management, among others.

Registration is available through the OAIMA website.
