The Ohio Aggregates & Industrial Minerals Association (OAIMA) is currently constructing its Freedom Plaza.

When finished, the plaza at the OAIMA office in Gahanna, Ohio, will display the U.S. flag and a flag featuring the U.S. armed forces.

The project is being fully funded by the sale of engraved paver units. Pat Jacomet, executive director of OAIMA, says engraved pavers will continue to be sold prior to a scheduled ribbon-cutting ceremony next spring. The pavers can honor a veteran, friend, coworker or loved one; commemorate a special date or event; highlight a business; or be in support of a favorite team.

According to Jacomet, much of the project’s prep work was done with assistance from OAIMA member companies – including Olen Corp. and The Belden Brick Co. Also partnering on the project are masonry students from Fort Hayes Career Center and Bricklayers Local 55 – both in Columbus – as well as the Ohio District Council of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers.
