NSSGA’s Young Leaders keeps on growing

By |  May 2, 2023

As Baxter describes, the Young Leaders Steering Committee was essential in building a program that provided NSSGA’s Young Leaders with a wealth of opportunities.

“I think that’s what is really drawing people into it,” she says. “Not only do they get to come and make industry contacts but they get to really learn [and] really add to their career.”

Baxter’s tenure as chair of the Young Leaders Steering Committee ended near the end of the 2023 meeting, as she gave way to Clay Albright, vice president of Caldwell Stone Co. Albright looks forward to growing NSSGA’s Young Leaders in 2024 as the annual meeting shifts to San Antonio. Next year’s event will take place April 28 to May 1.

“I don’t think we’d have the numbers and growth we have if people weren’t seeing value,” Albright says. “These numbers are a direct reflection of what we are providing members. You also hear that Young Leaders is held in high regard across the industry, across the country and in other associations that are trying to mimic what we’ve been able to accomplish. Some have done a pretty close job with it, some have had trouble with it. But we’re a model for people, and I think we’ve proven that over the years. I look forward to coming back as a 50-year-old in 11 years and hopefully seeing 500 to 600 people.”
