Michele Stanley, vice president of government and regulatory affairs at the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA), was recognized as a top lobbyist by The Hill.

The Hill is a longtime publication covering Capitol Hill.

“Michele is an outstanding advocate, who tirelessly works to advance the public policy priorities of our member companies,” says Michael Johnson, NSSGA president and CEO. “Very simply, advocacy is job No. 1 at NSSGA, and Michele has made us more effective than ever in doing that work. The value our industry provides to our communities and our economy would not get the understanding it deserves with policymakers without Michele’s great work. We are extremely fortunate to have her leading our advocacy team.”

According to NSSGA, Stanley rose up to the challenges 2020 presented, leading NSSGA’s government and regulatory affairs team to ensure the aggregate industry was deemed as essential to continue operations during the early weeks of the pandemic.

Additionally, Stanley led her team’s efforts in drawing members of Congress to speak directly with NSSGA members through regular policy briefing webinars. Those efforts contributed to the association’s annual fly-in, held virtually in 2020, with 325 bipartisan Capitol Hill meetings.

NSSGA says Stanley also continued her efforts as a leader and coalition builder in the industry by working with the Highway Materials Group.

Stanley recently visited with P&Q along with Johnson to dissect the presidential election, the outcome’s impact on the aggregate industry, and what sort of governing to expect from the Biden administration come 2021.
