The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) named the recipients of its Community Relations Excellence award.

NSSGA’s Community Relations Excellence Awards recognize aggregate producers’ achievements in enhancing the public’s perception of the aggregate industry and the individual producer’s operation through their community involvement.

“These companies exemplify the benefits aggregate operations offer to their communities to goes well beyond the stone, sand and gravel they produce for local infrastructure and construction projects,” says Mike Johnson, NSSGA president & CEO. “Good operations are good neighbors that support their community, and it is our pleasure to recognize the outstanding ways that operations demonstrate their partnerships and support for their neighbors.”

LafargeHolcim‘s Presque Isle Quarry was one of the 10 recipients of the Community Relations Excellence award.

“We are proud of our teams here at LafargeHolcim for their ongoing efforts to reach new levels of excellence in their operations,” says Jay Moreau, CEO of U.S. aggregate construction materials at LafargeHolcim. “It’s exciting to see this national recognition for Presque Isle for building strong, long-lasting relationships within its community and for Chelsea Gravel for its care of the environment in and around its operations.”

Jaime Muguiro, Cemex USA president, echos a similar sentiment.

“At Cemex, we strive to pursue excellence while serving as good neighbors in the communities where we operate,” he says. “We are proud of these operations for reaching and maintaining such high standards while serving as examples others can emulate.”
