Hardox wear plate for dump bodies offers added strength

By |  March 9, 2017

SSAB introduced the Hardox 500 Tuf wear plate at ConExpo-Con/Agg 2017, combining the best properties from Hardox 450 and Hardox 500.

According to SSAB, Hardox 500 Tuf is tough enough to perform as a structural material in heavy-duty dump bodies, containers and buckets. Superior wear and dent resistance give it increased service life and the ability to withstand heavy impact, the company says.

WearCalc and TippCalc calculations based on sliding wear with granite indicate Hardox 500 Tuf has an 85 to 100 percent longer service life compared with Hardox 400. According to SSAB, Hardox 500 Tuf will excel in the loading and unloading of heavy and sharp rocks in quarries and mines; the handling of large and heavy steel scrap; and in demolition when pieces of concrete containing rebar are loaded or dropped into dumpers.
