Vulcan Materials elected Melissa Anderson to its board of directors, effective immediately.

Anderson will serve on the compensation and safety, health and environmental affairs committees. She serves as executive vice president and chief human resources officer at Duke Energy Corp.

“We are fortunate to welcome Melissa Anderson to Vulcan’s board of directors,” says Tom Hill, chairman and CEO of Vulcan Materials. “Melissa is an exceptional leader fostering a strong corporate culture at a large, dynamic, publicly traded company. We look forward to working with her and to the insights and expertise she will bring to the board.”

With the addition of Anderson, Vulcan’s 11-member board consists of 10 independent directors.

In July, Vulcan also elected Michael Wilson as the 10th member of the company’s board of directors.

Vulcan Materials is a producer of construction aggregate and construction materials – primarily crushed stone, sand and gravel – and a producer of aggregate-based construction materials, including asphalt and ready-mixed concrete.
