Martin Marietta names top operations

Martin Marietta recognized top operations within the company through a new, three-tiered program called the Diamond Awards.

The first tier, the Diamond Achievement Award, was presented to more than 150 Martin Marietta operations across the United States that exhibited excellence in the past year.

Of those operations, 10 were selected by a panel of division presidents as winners of the Diamond Honor Award. These operations, representative of the second tier of the awards program, have maintained excellence for the past three years, the company says.

Diamond Honor Award winners this year were the Charlotte, North Columbia and Rock Hill quarries in the Mid-Atlantic Division; the Hatton, Jones Mill and Rio Medina quarries in the Southwest Division; Raccoon River Sand & Gravel/Saylorville Sand and Stamper Mine in the Midwest Division; Apple Grove Sand & Gravel in the Mideast Division; and Guernsey Quarry in the Rocky Mountain Division.

In the third tier of awards, the Jones Mill Quarry of Malvern, Arkansas, was selected as the winner of the Diamond Elite Award. According to Martin Marietta, Jones Mill’s team of 42 employees best demonstrated the company’s core pillars, from safety to production to sustainability and beyond.

“This team has been on a journey,” says Deron Jennings, Arkansas district general manager. ” It continues to improve, continues to raise volume and continues to be safe. The Jones Mill team has safety in its hearts and minds. That safety comes along with teamwork and is fostered by communication. I look forward to great things in the years to come.”
