The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) named LB Bhatnager the recipient of its 2021 Environmental Leadership Award.

Bhatnager is the director of environment, land and resource development for Lehigh Hanson’s South Region.

The award was presented during the first morning of NSSGA’s Legislative & Policy Forum in Washington.

According to NSSGA, Bhatnager has led efforts on behalf of the association and the greater aggregate industry on areas related to the Waters of the U.S. regulation repeal and rewrite. Bhatnager has also been instrumental with other critical water-related issues for the industry, NSSGA says.

His hands-on involvement in policymaking, as well as rulemaking, provided critical member engagement and technical knowledge when needed most, the association adds.

“As LB has been engaged at both the advocacy and regulatory side, his constant work demonstrates his expertise and leadership on these issues,” says Michael Johnson, NSSGA president and CEO. “I am thrilled to honor him with this award, as his dedication over his 26-year career have greatly benefited not just his peers, but the entire industry.”

For the past 13 years, Bhatnager has represented Lehigh Hanson in the environmental sector by participating on environmentally focused steering committees, leading task groups and coordinating efforts to assist with achieving HeidelbergCement’s 2030 sustainability commitments.
