McLanahan Corp.’s Mark Krause offered company updates during an AGG1 Aggregates Academy & Expo press conference, noting that water management solutions are a priority at the moment.

“The biggest thing for us right now has got to do with water management and scarcity of water, how dry it is out West, the cost of water [and] the cost of handling water,” says Krause, McLanahan’s managing director of North America. “That doesn’t matter whether it’s our mining business, agricultural business or the aggregate business.”

According to Krause, McLanahan recently designed a side-beam press, which is a complement to its overhead beam press. McLanahan continues to expand its thickener line, as well, with elevated thickeners and traditional on-the-ground solutions.

“We’re about to introduce here somewhere in the future a centrifuge, which we’ve been testing over in the UK,” Krause says. “Again, it’s to help with that whole idea of water management. It’s cost of money, taking care of reserves. We can’t ever talk enough about ponds, how to clean out ponds, what it costs to [manage] ponds and all that. Whether you want to use the buzzword ‘sustainability’ or not, it comes down to the economics. The economics say [if] you do that, you’ll make some more money.”

Krause also offered insight on McLanahan’s partnership with Anaconda Equipment, and he weighed in on AGG1’s turnout.
