Kobelco opens excavator plant in South Carolina

Kobelco Construction Machinery USA and its parent company, Kobelco, celebrated the opening of a new 156,000-sq.-ft. excavator production plant in Moore, S.C.

According to the Upstate Business Journal, the plant’s capacity is expected to be about 1,800 excavators per year by the end of 2018. The plant will initially make Kobelco’s SK210 and SK350 excavators. Over the next two years, Kobelco will produce four more models at the plant, including the SK170, SK260, SK300 and SK500.

The plant, which sits on a 76-acre site, features 16,400 sq. ft. of office space and a demonstration center, the Upstate Business Journal adds.

Kobelco Construction Machinery USA offers crawler excavators in the 3,000-pound to 245,000-pound classes, including zero tail swing, compact, standard, long-reach, mass excavation and demolition models.
