John Deere added three new P-tier excavator models to its line of large-size equipment.

The 470 P-tier, 670 P-tier and 870 P-tier are the latest excavator models to launch as part of the John Deere Performance Tiering strategy.

“Excavators are known to be highly versatile and on almost every jobsite, so they need to perform day in and day out,” says Justin Steger, solutions marketing manager at John Deere Construction & Forestry. “Our largest P-tier excavators are built to deliver exceptional performance in harsh environments like aggregates, but also help operators increase efficiency and accuracy during high-production applications.”

The three models feature standard right, rear and left camera systems with added LED surround lighting to provide operators with a 270-degree view of the area around the machine.

The new hydraulic coupler-ready option for the 470 model provides  hydraulic plumbing through the end of the arm. Coupler controls are also factory integrated into a switch in the cab. John Deere says this allows operators to efficiently switch attachments, adding more productive working hours each day.

Auto-idle technology on all three P-tier models automatically reduces engine speed when hydraulics are not in use, helping to save fuel during operation. In addition, auto-shutdown further preserves fuel.

The P-tier excavators also feature three productivity modes. John Deere says high productivity mode delivers more power and faster hydraulic response; power mode provides smooth and balanced metering; and economy mode helps reduce engine rpm.
