PQ1310_haul-deere-eotd300John Deere’s 460E articulated dump truck (ADT) joins the 370E and 410E in the company’s E-Series. According to John Deere, the 46-ton 460E is the largest, most operator-friendly truck it has ever built. The 460E features a 13.5-liter Tier 4 Interim engine with 481 net hp. The ZF transmission includes a high-capacity retarder, eight forward gears and four reverse gears. In addition, new John Deere hauler axles are designed for heavy-duty applications and include on-the-fly differential locks and outboard planetaries. Each axle is independently pressure lubed and filtered. The E-Series axles use internal wet disc brakes that utilize independent cooling circuits. Also, John Deere says allowing the differential-lock system to run in automatic mode will simplify operation for new operators by taking the guesswork out of using the differential locks.
