Holcim unveiled the recipients of the 40th annual Gygi and von Wyss Foundation Scholarship.

The awards are provided to support college education for children of Holcim employees in the U.S. Each recipient receives $6,000 for the 2023-24 academic year and the opportunity to be considered for three years of additional financial support, based on continuous academic performance.

The Gygi and von Wyss Foundation Scholarship was established in 1983 in memory of Hans Gygi and Marc von Wyss, two former leaders of Holcim and its predecessor companies. The scholarship’s goal is to celebrate and encourage the children of Holcim employees through a four-year scholarship program.

The 2023 scholarship recipients are:

• Isabelle Dietrick, daughter of Kevin Dietrick, senior project manager (Pennsylvania)
• Madison Dutton, daughter of Eric Dutton, quarry operator (New York)
Patrick Judd, son of John Judd II, quality manager (Ohio)
Madison Kamyszek, daughter of Greg Kamyszek, area manager (Michigan)
Rylee Miller, daughter of Seth Miller, quarry supervisor (Ohio)
Sam Nixon, son of Michael Nixon, senior vice president of manufacturing (Michigan)
Emma Pham, daughter of Anna Nguyen, operations analyst (Washington)
Ethan Purol, son of Jeffery Purol, electrical manager (Michigan)

We believe in the value of higher education and in empowering the leaders of tomorrow,” says Toufic Tabarra, region head of Holcim North America. “Congratulations to the 2023 Gygi and von Wyss Foundation Scholarship recipients who worked tirelessly to set up a successful future for themselves. We’re honored to support the families of our employees.”
