Haver & Boecker introduced its skid-mounted Hydro-Clean 1000 wash plant during a press conference at ConExpo-Con/Agg.

The Hydro-Clean 1000 washing system includes a Tyler L-Class vibrating rinse screen. In addition, it offers semi-portability by mounting the entire system on a custom skid structure.

During the press conference, Michael Honea, process engineer at Haver & Boecker, noted three advantages the Hydro-Clean has compared to log washers. First, it uses 75 percent less water; it has fewer wear parts; and it features a smaller footprint.

“It could be an alternative to a log washer,” Honea says. “However, it can’t always replace a log washer since it’s related to the amount of clay. If you get 15 percent clay, a log washer would perform better. But a log washer is expensive to maintain whereas this has fewer wear parts and it’s gravity-fed down. The structure is lighter, as well, when compared with a log washer.”

The wash plant integrates a single-deck, linear-stroke, 6 ft. x 16 ft. Tyler L-Class horizontal vibrating rinse screen and a skid structure to create the compact plant. The system processes as much as 200 tph of product with its short retention times, the company adds. During the cleaning process, the washed material works its way down the Hydro-Clean 1000’s drum and exits onto a discharge conveyor that leads to the L-Class wash screen. The vibrating screen then removes any remaining dirt or clay still on the stone as it fractionates the material.

Taking feed material as large as 6 in. into its 40-in. vertical drum, the Hydro-Clean 1000 employs 2,000 psi high-pressure nozzles that rotate at 90 rpm to remove silt and clay particles as small as 63 microns from mineral mixtures. In addition, the high-pressure water is generated with a three-piston pump, which is powered by a 450 hp motor, Honea says.

“The whole 450 hp from the motor is put into such a small volume,” he adds. “We’re putting a tremendous amount of energy into a small volume hence we have a small footprint.”
