Granite appoints COO, head of California operations

Granite Construction appointed James Radich to the position of executive vice president and COO, effective Dec. 1.

In his new role, Radich will oversee day-to-day operations of the company while ensuring the necessary procedures are in place to meet the company’s financial and operation goals, according to Granite. Radich will join the executive committee and report to Kyle Larkin, Granite president and principal CEO, the company says.

Radich, who joined Granite in 1980, has served in a progression of leadership roles at the company – most recently as senior vice president and California group manager, according to Granite.

“As a Granite veteran, Jim has a deep understanding of our business and culture, and he has a track record of delivering results,” Larkin says. “In his most recent role leading our California operations, he steadily grew the core construction and materials business while expanding our alternative procurement project portfolio, and he significantly increased our presence in the private works arena.

“He is a well-respected leader who I am pleased to welcome to the executive team. I look forward to our continued collaboration and partnership,” Larkin adds.

Dowd

Additionally, Granite named Brian Dowd senior vice president and California group manager, effective Jan. 1.

Dowd, a 34-year veteran of the company, currently serves as vice president of Granite’s Nevada region.

In his new role, Dowd will be responsible for operational oversight and strategic direction, Granite says, while setting the standards for environmental, financial, safety, business and employee development throughout the company’s California businesses. He will report to Radich and be based at the company’s headquarters in Watsonville, California.

“Brian is a dynamic leader that will help guide our California operations’ continued growth as we work to meet the needs of all of our public and private clients,” Larkin says.
