Former Cat exec joins Summit board

Summit Materials Inc. appointed Steven H. Wunning as a director to its board. Wunning will also serve on Summit’s Compensation Committee.

According to Summit, Wunning has more than 40 years of combined operating and board experience across the industrial and building products industries. With the appointment of Wunning, Summit’s board now comprises nine members.

“We welcome Steve with his more than 40 years of industry experience leading global operations and driving improved performance,” says Tom Hill, CEO of Summit. “Steve brings to the board a valuable perspective as a successful business executive and seasoned board member. His deep acumen in managing expanding organizations, implementing best-in-class logistics practices and integrating complex acquisitions will be a positive contribution to Summit’s materials-based growth objectives.”

Wunning served as group president and executive office member for Caterpillar Inc. from 2004 until his retirement in 2015. Wunning joined Caterpillar in 1973 and held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility with the company, including vice president of the Logistics Division from 2000 to 2004 and vice president of the Logistics & Product Services Division from 1998 to 2000.
