The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) awarded its annual Barry K. Wendt Commitment Award to Bill Wetta, senior vice president of product development and chief technology officer at DSC Dredge.

Wetta was named the award winner Monday at the NSSGA Annual Convention in Indianapolis.

NSSGA established the Wendt award more than two decades ago to recognize individuals who exhibit the dedication and commitment to the industry that Barry Wendt did. The award is the highest and most distinguished individual award the association presents.

The very first Barry K. Wendt Commitment Award was bestowed on Bernie Grove of Redland Genstar in 1998. Others to receive the award over the years are Roy Rumbaugh (1999), Paul Mellott (2006), Steve Zelnak (2013), Don James (2014) and Jerry Geraghty (2016).

“I understand what it means to be on this list,” Wetta says. “This is the only job and only industry I’ve worked at. I’ve been doing this almost 40 years.”
