RAM Inc. unveiled the dates and location for its 2024 Blasting & Explosives Safety Training (BEST) Course, designating Sept. 10-12 at Crazy Horse Memorial in Crazy Horse, South Dakota, for its event.

Led by instructors with decades of practical experience in their respective fields, RAM says the BEST Course educates attendees on explosives regulations, safety and application, as well as hazard recognition, accident prevention and new product introductions related to explosives and face profiling.

“In the mining industry, recognizing the hazard is key to advancing safety at the workplace,” says Robert McClure, president of RAM who is also a BEST Course facilitator and instructor. “Our BEST Course delivers the opportunity to improve the recognition and handling of hazardous situations so everyone can go home safely every day.”

According to RAM, BEST sessions are developed specifically for explosives engineers, drillers, field crews, safety personnel, drilling and blasting engineers, and others working with explosives. Course topics are applicable to those with varied experience levels, the company adds.

Those who attend the 2024 BEST Course will receive updates on explosives regulations from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives; the Mine Safety & Health Administration; and the U.S. Department of Transportation. Attendees will also be educated about electronic blasting systems and supporting technologies, as well as hazard recognition of deteriorated explosives.

Field trips of the Crazy Horse Memorial and Mt. Rushmore are in the two-and-a-half-day conference. For more course information and to register, click here.
