Command Alkon debuted its vertical cloud solution, Connex, along with its first partner, HaulHub Technologies.

Connex is designed to increase productivity levels and produce results across project performance, schedule, workforce management and safety, the company says.

Connex enables companies to gain more automated processes, capture clear visibility into inter-company operations, and experience real-time collaboration and business intelligence tools tailored to its role in the heavy work supply chain.

“Based on Command Alkon’s longstanding community of heavy material suppliers that are critical to all jobsites, we wholeheartedly embrace this unique opportunity to deliver breakthrough capabilities to the global construction industry,” says Phil Ramsey, Command Alkon CEO. “More than 40 years of proven performance and partnerships on the supply side makes us the natural choice to digitally connect the end-to-end ecosystem.”

As an open industry collaboration platform for construction, Connex connects contractors, project owners and jobsite inspectors with their heavy building material suppliers and haulers, the company says. Supporting shared digital transformation goals, the platform ensures stakeholders are all working with the same information and resources, creating transparency and removing waste.

“In an Amazon experience world, our industry can no longer depend on five-part paper forms, phone calls and faxes, disconnected systems, and difficult-to-access data,” says Ed Rusch, vice president of marketing at Command Alkon. “We’re thrilled to help lead the journey to connect the dots across systems, deliver software to facilitate business-critical operations, execute frictionless transactions, reveal insights that fuel success and eliminate risk – all while helping people and businesses grow intelligently.”

Connex insights are analytics derived from multiple sources, such as Internet of Things devices, telematics, track and trace and jobsite software, mobile devices, order capture and fulfillment technology, production automation and more, the company says.

The platform connects data from a variety of discrete on-premise, cloud and third-party solutions operating across the physical supply chain and equips people to collectively work from a single version of the truth. Many-to-many collaboration is possible using a common data model in the cloud, enabling data to be enriched into actionable information and applied in Command Alkon software or presented in partner solutions.

“We’re in unprecedented times of innovation, disruption and progress,” Ramsey says. “Connex is ‘made for now’ and I’m eager to see our thriving industry future unfold.”

The first partnership

HaulHub will be the first partner to join Command Alkon’s Connex platform.

“Connex enables us to integrate Command Alkon’s ticketing systems with material orders and transportation to create a single, transparent view of the job for material producers, contractors and carriers,” says Alisa Deychman, vice president of product for HaulHub. “With Connex, everyone from the sales team, dispatching, plant crews, field crews and haulers sees the data they require.

“For example, materials producers can now track in real-time the live plant inventory, material sales and tonnage in-transit,” Deychman adds. “Plant crews see real-time truck movements and load progression. It’s a single ecosystem. No longer are people kept in the dark; everyone has one platform to see the full picture.”

The partnership with Command Alkon is a step forward for the heavy construction industry, HaulHub says, signaling a more connected and collaborative environment for general contractors, haulers, suppliers and material producers.

“We’re changing the game for heavy construction companies,” says Joe Spinelli, HaulHub founder and CEO. “Being the first Connex certified partner is a part of that strategy. This data used to be locked in spreadsheets and paper documents. Now, we can use technology to help our customers’ businesses grow. Connex is one more step forward, enabling us to link into Command Alkon systems that our customers also use, making data sharing and collaboration that much easier for everyone involved in the process.”
